Letter to Time
A growing collection of watchmaking artworks, letters and material studies.
The bespoke practice
A timepiece to draw, a letter to write.
In Letter to Time, the timepiece is both a subject to draw and an object to address. Drawing and handwriting develop together on paper, around its construction, a memory or a private text.
For World Watch Day on 10 October 2026 in Geneva, Mauro Carraro will present a new Letter to Time at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire. Official programme.
Selected works: Daniel Roth Tourbillon · De Bethune Starry Varius · Reverso Hybris Artistica · Atmos.
The moment
An anniversary, a gift, an acquisition or a personal memory gives the work its point of departure.
The watch
Its proportions, mechanism and particular character are observed as a language to interpret, not merely reproduce.
The letter
Handwriting introduces a private voice: a dedication, a fragment, a thought or an unspoken trace.
The material
Ink, paper, prepared ground and gold leaf bring the image into a physical, lasting presence.
The trace
The work finds its final form through framing, delivery and the documentation chosen for its future life.
A growing collection of original works, letters and material studies.
